DKA is delighted to announce the winners of our first poetry contest.
Our theme was "revelation." The most exciting revelation was how many of the entries turned out to be truly enjoyable and genuinely good poems. The judges read through sixty entries, reading many repeatedly to select the best. It was a difficult but pleasurable job.
We'd like to thank all who entered. Win or lose, you’ve labored and done good work, and that's always something to be proud of.
Now, the final revelation: our winners.
We received so many wonderful poems that we simply had to award four honorable mentions. They are:
"open" by Patricia Kelly
"On the Crest of Victoria Crater" by Deborah P Kolodji
"Black Hole Relationships" by R. L. Copple
"How Angels Fledge" by Jane Lebak
Third place (and a prize of $20) goes to…
"Transport - or The Revelatory Love Song of Arthur J. MacArthur-Prufrock" by Chris Mikesell
Second place (and a prize of $40) goes to…
Two Cathedrals by Malcolm Deeley
And our first place poem, with a prize of $75, is awarded to…
Statuary by John Kuhn
Look for the winning poems in our November and December issues.
All of us on the DKA staff hope you enjoy reading these excellent offerings of verse as much as we did.
