Soul Light

R. L. Copple

Poetry
Science Fiction

They said it would kill us,
This massive, hidden sun,
Merging stellar matter
In a celestial Rumba.

They said we would burn,
Prophets proclaimed,
Constructing Hell's gates
With kindling oration.

They said time had run out,
Scientists explained.
Accretion's mad fusion
feeds the monster within.

They said we would perish,
Bathed in gamma-ray blasts,
And the Earth would dissolve
In an inferno-wrapped grave.

Implosion—explosion—insertion,
Penetrates our inner molecular cloud.
A river of caustic agony if retained,
A radiance of starlight if released.

Each soul's inner, hidden core
Exposed by His supernova rays.
