Dimensional Shifts

R. L. Copple

Poetry
Science Fiction

Dimensional travel at your fingertips,
Folding reality upon itself.
Live a cardboard life,
Or find Nirvana in pointlessness.

Ship activated, thickness wraps into length.
An existence played on a screen.
Without girth, hugs stagnate,
Love is shallow in a 2-D world.

Thin skin presses a lit button,
The world collapses to a point.
No mass, no weight, no depth,
A ghostly grain of sand on the shore of life.

The finger moves to the blinking button,
Reaches across infinity, never crosses halfway.
Stuck in one-dimensional timelessness,
Escape stays out of reach.

Angels flitter into view.
Motionless while moving.
There, but not.
Physical, yet bodiless.

Beyond the 3-D world, light fills eternity.
No one returns.
No one can.
Reality is revealed.
