Incident on Pennsylvania Avenue

Detective Jim Fenady sat at his desk at the Third District Station filling out a routine arrest report when Lieutenant Pearson came out of his office and pointed a finger at him.

"Fenady," he barked. "Get over to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. There's some kind of disturbance over there. A nut job in the middle of the street. Got a sword in his hand. Screaming something about a dragon. Take Benedict."

"Dragon? At the White House?" Fenady asked.

"Where is your partner?" Pearson said, looking at Tim Benedict's empty desk.

"In the can."

"Get him and get over there."

"Right, lieutenant." Fenady walked down the hall to the men's room. He pushed the door open and saw Benedict's shoes in the open space at the bottom of the first stall.

"Come on," he said. "We got a job."

"What is it?" Benedict asked. Fenady heard the toilet paper roll rolling.

"Not sure," Fenady said. "Something about a guy with a sword in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House."

"I hate those lousy protesters."
