Ethan Hopplesoth loved words almost as much as he loved his wife. Words like parsimonious. Ostentatious. Pietism. Inamorata. He loved the way soliloquy rolled off his tongue the most. However, of all the words in life’s vast dictionary, loneliness best defined Ethan. Some secrets require sacrifice. In Ethan’s case, two hundred and seventeen years of sacrifice.


Staring at the back yard door, Ethan inhaled and struggled to keep the shovel from trembling inside his hand. “One more time. You can dig her up one more time.”
