Fantasy

Famous for my graceful
turns within the holy place
of Sodom's gods, I danced
and dreamed, believing
something wondrous
was in store. While priests
and kings heaped praises
for the way I spun around,
my yearning eyes
searched for the face
that would be mine,
for some great lord
to worship with a waist
far suppler than the sacred
undulations of the snakes I
wore upon my slender arms.
