Angel Without Wings

Rochita Loenen-Ruiz

Poetry
Fantasy

She remembers dancing
with the sky
before their world ended.

Then, the sky called her
by another name,
not by this one that is earthbound.

That was before she knew
the meaning of shame,
before the advent of grief and loneliness.

Abba, abba, she cries,
where are you?

Haunted by dreams of flying
she stretches wingless arms
to catch the wind.
